A 39-year-old woman was recently killed in a motor vehicle crash that occurred in Acton, Massachusetts, according to a recent news feature from the Acton Patch.  The crash occurred when the vehicle crashed into a telephone pole at what his estimated to be a high rate of speed.

Authorities say victim was sitting in the passenger seat of the 2008 Saturn when it veered off the road and hit the utility pole.  The driver of the vehicle was her husband, and he was also seriously injured in what turned out to a fatal, single-vehicle car crash. Continue reading

According to a recent news report from the Boston Herald, pregnant woman was it by a car in a two-vehicle accident and is now in critical care at the Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH).  This woman is 24-years-old.  While every accident is different, as the facts are never the same, this accident appears to be very far from an “accident” by any meaning of the word, based upon charges filed against alleged at-fault driver by local police and the Middlesex County District Attorney’s Office.

Authorities have said the driver, who is the same age as the victim, was driving his vehicle when he crashed into the victim’s Jeep in a manner that is alleged to be intentional.  Police arrested alleged at-fault driver following the serious car accident and charged him with assault and battery by means of a dangerous weapon (ABDW).  In this case, the dangerous weapon is alleged to be his vehicle.  While we typically think of a dangerous weapon as gun or a knife, in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, a dangerous weapon can be an item designed as a weapon, like a gun or knife, but it can also be any ordinary item, so long as it is being used as a weapon.  For example, if someone kicks a victim while wearing a shoe, in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, that can be charged as assault with a dangerous weapon, with the weapon being a “shod foot.”  In this case, it is alleged that the car is the dangerous weapon, which his actually quite common. According to a recent news report from Mass Live, a defendant was arrested after he allegedly fled the scene of serious traffic accident in Holyoke, Mass. The accident from which he allegedly fled was a multiple-car accident with several personal injury victims.

Authorities have said the driver was operating his motor vehicle when he lost control of the car for reasons unknown at this time, and headed towards an exit ramp from Interstate 91 in the wrong direction.  Once he reached the ramp, he crashed into a car that was headed down the ramp off the highway.   After allegedly hitting this first vehicle, he put the car in reverse to get away from the scene of this accident and supposedly crashed into another vehicle.  Continue reading

As we get closer to summer, we are likely to see more serious car accidents involving teen drivers.  With the warm weather and high school students out of school, and the amount of new drivers on the road, this annual spike in teen auto auto accidents has become an annual phenomenon known as the “Hundred Deadliest Days of Teen Driving.”

While we aren’t quite into the 100-day period that runs roughly from Memorial Day to Labor Day, there will likely be a gradual increase in the amount of teen driving accidents leading up to that point.  According to a recent news feature, a 17-year-old girl was rushed to the hospital following a serious single vehicle crash.  It is believed that her injuries are life-threatening.  Continue reading
