Chicopee, Massachusetts is home to Westover Air Reserve Base, which was the site of fatal car accident that result in two dead, according to a recent news report from NECN.  The driver was operating the vehicle outside of the base when it allegedly crashed into the parameter fence, hit a cement truck and burst into flames.

A 31-year-old Massachusetts woman recently killed in a traffic accidnet was still reeling from the loss of her 40-year-old half-brother, according to a recent news report from the Boston Globe.  He died from an illness in September 2016.   She had just gotten a tattoo on her wrist with his name and astrological sign.

wrong-wayShe said that looking at the tattoo helped keep him alive.  This was two weeks before she herself died in a tragic Middleboro car accident. On that day, she reportedly got in her 2011 Infiniti and got on Interstate 495.  However, for reasons that are not fully known at this time, she entered via the off-ramp and began traveling in the wrong direction. According to WWLP 22 News, a 68-year-old man from Westfield, Massachusetts died recently after he was involved in a serious car crash.  There were multiple witnesses to the deadly car crash who called 911.

While there are many news articles about car crashes between privately-owned vehicles and vehicles owned by the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA), or the “T” as it is commonly called, there has been a renewed interest in a serious accident involving a street car that occurred in Boston 100 years ago.  This accident resulted in 46 deaths and is considered as the city’s largest catastrophe to be forgotten by time.

street carAs discussed in a recent news article from Bostinno, on November 6, 1916, a Boston trolley car was filled with commuters during evening rush hour.  This was Election Day, and the contest that year was between Woodrow Wilson, who obviously won the election, and Justice Charles Evans Hughes of the United States Supreme Court.  The polls had just closed prior to the streetcar crash. When a 30-ton fire truck crashes into a line of cars, it is not hard to imagine that there would be a lot of damage and multiple people injured.  This is exactly what happened recently, according to a news article from News 5 Boston.

mQo4CWyBoston Fire Department (BFD) officials have said the fire apparatus involved in the crash (Engine No. 7) was responding to a report of smoke at the time and had all lights, sirens and other emergency equipment in operation at the time of the accident. The call was on Boylston Street in downtown Boston, and the engine was approaching the intersection of Commonwealth Avenue and Dartmouth Street when witnesses heard what they described as a very loud bang and then some more crashing sounds. According to a recent news article from News 7 Boston, what police are describing as a “major” traffic accident resulted in one fatality.  There are photographs (not pictured here) of the car that appears to be upside down and completely engulfed in flames taken by witnesses.

car-fire-1346381Authorities have said the deadly Milford crash occurred when the vehicle portrayed in the photographs began driving in a very erratic manner. As the driver was allegedly operating the motor vehicle erratically, the car managed to flip over onto its roof and then suddenly burst into flames. Continue reading

These days, just about everyone is familiar with Uber or Lyft.  These ridesharing services have become a lot more popular over the past few years and are even replacing public transportation and taxis for many people. While these ridesharing apps and vehicles can make things a lot simpler in some ways, they can also make things somewhat more complicated if there is a Boston car accident.

car accidentAccording to a recent news article from The Boston Herald, two victims were rushed to the hospital after an Uber car crashed into a brick wall in Boston’s Beacon Hill neighborhood. This serious Boston car accident occurred around 3 p.m. near the intersection of Grove and Myrtle streets. Fortunately, the wall was in stable enough condition for the car to be removed without it collapsing, per the orders of a building inspector who was called to the scene to assess any immediate risks of a structure collapse. According to a recent news article from ESPN, Max Holloway, a defensive lineman on the Boston College football team several years ago, was recently killed in a car accident.  Holloway was the son of former NFL athlete, Brian Holloway, who played six seasons for the New England Patriots in the 1980s. He was 26 years old at the time of his death.

football-kick-1534163Authorities have said the accident, which occurred around 2:30 a.m., resulted in Holloway’s death when his slammed into a telephone pole and then flipped into the area and ended up crashing through a closed garage door of a house near the utility pole.  The police are still investigating the cause of this fatal car accident and have not offered any more information. In a rather bizarre turn of events, according to allegations discussed in a recent article from the Washington Post, a man was driving his SUV with his girlfriend when he lost control of the vehicle and drove off the road and down into an embankment in the woods.  He was trapped in the car for three days with his girlfriend who did not survive the crash, and, after getting free from the car and finding help, he is now facing criminal charges.

sadAuthorities have said the man was trapped inside his SUV because he had broken his leg in the crash.  After three days of being trapped in the SUV, he managed to crawl out.  He was able to find help, but things took a turn for the worse while he was being treated for his injuries.  This man allegedly told police and paramedics that his girlfriend had been driving the car, as he did not have a valid driver’s license due to an earlier suspension. According to a recent report from the Boston Globe, two people were killed when a hired vehicle allegedly drove across the median dividing Interstate 195 in Westport and then crashed into a car traveling in the opposite direction.  This crash was a head-on collision, and it resulted in a chain reaction crash in that lane of travel in which three people were killed.

policelineMassachusetts State Police (MSP) said there were two people in the hired vehicle, which was a 2005 Dodge Caravan. Both occupants in the Dodge van were killed in this tragic Westport collision. There was another passenger in the Dodge that survived the crash and was taken to a local level-one trauma center in nearby Rhode Island.  Westport is located fairly close to the border of Massachusetts and Rhode Island.
